Type: Gjellerup 950 (holo BO, iso L).
Stems elongated, pendulous, branching, laterally compressed, 75 cm by 2.3 mm, internodes 0.6-0.9 cm long. Leaf sheaths 0.5 cm, laterally compressed, apex strongly oblique. Leaves overlapping, patent, laterally compressed, linear-triangular, 2.75-2.9 by 0.45-0.5 cm, carnose, apex acute. Inflorescences axillary, simple or fasciculate-branching, very short. Ovary 0.3 cm long. Flowers c. 1 cm long. Dorsal sepal 0.63 cm by 2.8 mm, apex conico-apiculate-acuminate; mentum 0.36 cm long, obtuse, bilobulate. Petals 0.36 cm by 1.5 mm. Lip when flattened 0.63 by 0.28 cm, at the base with two small hairy calli, in apical half with two cushion-shaped subverrucose-papillose swellings; margins papillose. Column 0.15 cm long; column-foot 0.38 cm long.

Colours: Flowers yellow-green, the lateral sepals outside partly brown-red, lip deep brown-red, in the middle metallic green, column light brown-red.
Habitat: Epiphyte in forest margin along Imperata grassland. Altitude 50 m.
Flowering time in the wild: January.
Distribution: New Guinea (endemic).
Distribution in New Guinea: Papua (Jayapura Regency).
Notes: Dendrobium bipulvinatum is closely related to Dendrobium acianthum, with which it should be compared.
Cultivation: Warm growing epiphyte.
