Epiphyte, erect or patent, up to 35 cm high; rhizome decumbent, elongated, covered with sheaths, slender; roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous; stems unbranched or sparsely branched, leafy, somewhat compressed, entirely covered by the leaf-sheaths; leaves erect-patent, ligulate, apex strongly oblique, narrowly obtusely pointed, at the base subpetiolate-narrowed, glabrous, shiny below, 2.8-4.5 cm long, in the middle or below the middle 0.4-0.7 cm wide; sheaths striate-nervose, apex obliquely truncate, up to 1.5 cm long. Flowers solitary, glabrous. Spathe elliptic, apiculate, cucullate-clasping, surpassing the ovary. Floral bract linear, apiculate, small. Sepals oblong, narrowly obtuse. Median sepal 0.9 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, high cohering along the interior margins, 0.8 cm long, somewhat wider than the median sepal. Petals obliquely oblong-ligulate, obtuse, 0.8 cm long, near the middle 0.25 cm wide. Lip cucullate-concave, oblong, 0.65 cm long, near the middle 0.33 cm wide, narrowly obtuse, mid-vein clearly thickened. Column somewhat curved, glabrous, semiterete, 0.5 cm long, clinandrium 4-lobed, lobes quadrate, upper margins truncate, serrulate, about equally long, rostellum medium-sized, transverse. Anther umbonate, in front truncate, in the middle somewhat notched, glabrous. Ovary subcylindrical, glabrous, 0.7 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914)
Colours: Flower golden sulfur-yellow.
Habitat: Epiphyte in montane forest. Altitude 1100-1700 m.
Flowering time in the wild: January, December.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
