Type: Kanis 1394 (holo L; iso AMES, CANB, K, LAE)

Pseudobulb up to 11 cm long, slender, fusiform, erect, 3- to 4-leaved. Leaves suberect, petiolate; blade 8.2-13.8 by 5-6.1 cm, slightly obliquely elliptic to oblong-elliptic, acuminate, thin-textured; petiole 1.4-2.3 cm long, channelled, widening towards the sheathing base. Inflorescence to 27 cm long, erect; rachis to 15 cm long, c. 80-flowered, laxly flowered at the base, rather densely so towards the top. Floral bracts usually 0.6-0.65 cm long, narrowly triangular, acute to acuminate. Flowers not resupinate. Median sepal to 0.8 by 0.2 cm, oblong-elliptic, obtuse, 3-nerved, with revolute margins. Petals to 0.7 by 0.11 cm, linear, sigmoid-curved, with revolute margins, slightly notched at apex, 1-nerved. Lateral sepals 0.65-0.7 by 0.25 cm, obliquely oblong-elliptic, shortly apiculate, more or less spirally twisted, indistinctly 5-nerved. Lip 0.65-0.7 by 0.6 cm, shortly auricled; auricles c. 0.1 cm long, to 0.2 cm wide at base, broadly and obtusely triangular; blade pentagonal in outline, with 8-10 teeth along apical margins, with the two median teeth the longest; basal pit shallow, surrounded with an indistinct rim. Colours: Sepals and petals light green, lip tinged yellow in mature flowers.

Habitat: Terrestrial in mixed oak forest; 1350 to 1500 m.

Flowering time in the wild: September.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).

Cultivation: Intermediate growing terrestrial, keep in shaded position.

Notes: We consider this to be a species of Malaxis, but to the best of our knowledge there is no name available under this genus.
