Epiphyte, spreading, to 25 cm long. Rhizome stem-like, elongated, with clasping sheaths. Roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs to 5 cm apart, subcylindrical, subparallel to the rhizome, 1.2-1.5 by 0.3-0.4 cm above the base; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, oblong-lanceolate, subacute, glabrous, 5.5-6.5 by 1.4-2 cm near the middle; base subcuneate. Inflorescences 1-flowered, very short, covered with peduncle-scales. Floral bracts lanceolate, acuminate, about as long as the ovary. Flower c. 1.5 cm wide. Median sepal oblong-ligulate, apiculate, glabrous, 0.85 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, ovate-oblong, apiculate, 0.85 cm long. Petals obliquely ovate-oblong, obtuse, 0.15 cm long; below the middle along the margins on either side with a short, obtuse lobule. Lip immobile, narrowly ligulate, obtuse, 0.7 cm long; base concave-auriculate; on both sides minutely spiny-papillose. Column curved; stelidia unequally dentate-lobulate; without column-foot. Anther cucullate, keeled-umbonate, glabrous. Ovary sessile, cylindrical, glabrous, 0.4 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)

Colours: Flowers red. Lip brownish, with yellow apex. Column yellow-green.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 250-800 m.

Flowering time in the wild: September.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
