Dendrobium integrum

Type: Schlechter 18711 (holo B, lost).

Rhizome very short, roots elongated, filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Stems crowded, erect, rigid, slightly laterally compressed, unbranched, 30-50 cm by 2 mm, many-leaved. Leaf sheaths 0.2 cm wide, entirely covering the stem. Leaves erect, linear to linear-lanceolate, 3.5-5.5 by 0.3-0.4 cm, rigid, margins to the apex somewhat rolled inwards, apex acute. Inflorescences arising laterally from the stem, 1-flowered, sessile. Pedicel and ovary 0.4 cm long, glabrous. Flower not resupinated, c. 1 cm across. Dorsal sepal oblong, 0.8 cm long, apex obtuse. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, widened at the base, 0.8 cm long, apex obtuse; mentum 0.45 cm long. Petals obliquely linear-ligulate, a little shorter than the sepals, apex obtuse. Lip oblong, 0.7 by 0.25 cm, with a very low, backwards-pointing basal callus which is gradually decurrent in front, apex broadly obtuse. Column short, clinandrium 3-lobulate, the lateral lobules triangular, obtusely apiculate, the median equally long, triangular; column-foot oblong, 0.45 cm long. Anther reniform-cucullate, dorsally weakly umbonate, glabrous.

Colours: Flower golden yellow, column dark red.

Habitat: Epiphyte in montane forest. Altitude 1800 m.

Flowering time in the wild: November.

Distribution: New Guinea (endemic).

Distribution in New Guinea: Papua New Guinea (Eastern Highlands Province).

Cultivation: Cool growing epiphyte.
