Flickingeria quadriloba (Rolfe) A.D.Hawkes, Orchid Weekly 2 (1961) 458.

Basionym: Dendrobium quadrilobum.

Rhizome pendulous, bushy, branching, branches 15-25 cm long. Pseudobulbs 1-leaved, fusiform-oblong, 1.2-2.5 cm long. Leaves elliptic-oblong, 2.5-4 by 1-1.4 cm, base sessile, apex obtuse. Inflorescences subterminal, 1-flowered. Floral bract ovate, concave, acute. Flower c. 2.5 cm long. Dorsal sepal ovate-oblong, 0.8 cm by 3-4 mm, apex obtuse. Lateral sepals triangular-ovate, 2.5 cm by 8 mm, apex obtuse; mentum 1.8 cm long. Petals ovate-oblong, 0.8 cm by 3-4 mm, apex obtuse. Lip 3-lobed, 2.2 by 1.2 cm, on the disc with two keels; lateral lobes erect, narrow, margins denticulate, apex rounded; midlobe deeply obcordate, bilobulate, lobules rounded. Column 0.2 cm long.

Notes: Flickingeria quadriloba, described from a cultivated specimen, is probably not native in New Guinea. Judging from the description it should be compared with F. xantholeuca (Rchb.f.) A.D.Hawkes, a species distributed from Thailand to Borneo.

Cultivation: Warm growing epiphyte?.
