Epiphyte to 20 cm high, with rhizome. Pseudobulbs to 4 cm apart, narrowly ovoid-quadrangular, to 4 cm high; 1-leaved. Leaves narrowly elliptic, subobtuse, to 15 by 2.5 cm; base conduplicate-subpetiolate. Inflorescence 1-flowered, slender, with 2-3 sheaths, to 8 cm long. Floral bracts tubular, to 1.5 cm long; apex acuminate. Flowers widely open gaping, fleshy. Median sepal in basal third ovate-lanceolate, inside hirsute, with ciliate margins, in total 5 by 0.8 cm; apex elongated in a terete, glabrous, over the whole length grooved, 3 cm long tail; Lateral sepals free, linear-lanceolate, to 4.2 by 0.4 cm; base densely hirsute, above to the middle sparsely pubescent. Petals glabrous, at the base orbicular, 0.3 cm long and wide; apex long antennate, the antenna finely rough, 0.8 cm long. Lip fleshy, recurved, linear-ligulate or subtriangular, to 0.3 cm long; on upper side silky hairy. Column low, thick, 0.2 cm tall; stelidia erect, bidentate, column-foot 0.2 cm long. Colours: Median sepal at the base whitish with purple spots; tail maroon-purple. Lateral sepals white, at the base spotted. Petals yellowish green with purple veins; antennae greenish yellow spotted with purple to completely purple. Lip greenish yellow.

Habitat: Epiphyte in forest; 1600-2900 m.

Flowering time in the wild: July, August, December.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
