Epiphyte, erect or spreading, 10-17 cm long. Rhizome stem-like, covered with cucullate sheaths. Roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs 1.2-1.5 cm apart, cylindrical, short, 0.3-0.45 by 0.15-0.2 cm; 1-leaved. Leaf elliptic or elliptic-ligulate, acute or subacute, glabrous, 4-6.5 by 1.5-2.2 cm; base broadly cuneate. Inflorescence 1-flowered, very short, covered with a few peduncle-scales. Floral bracts similar to the sheaths, shorter than the ovary. Sepals lanceolate, apiculate, glabrous, 0.7 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique; upper margin at the base somewhat dilated. Petals falcate-incurved, ovate-lanceolate, glabrous, 0.18 cm long; front margin in the middle somewhat angular; apical half narrowed. Lip immobile, fleshy-ligulate,, 0.6 cm long; muriculate-papillose except for a bare shiny patch at the base; underneath at the base sulcate. Column without column-foot; stelidia 4-dentate. Anther oblongoid-cucullate, glabrous, umbonate, apiculate. Ovary sessile, glabrous, cylindrical, 0.3 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)
Colours: Flower pale yellow. Petals and lip dark purple.
Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 800 m.
Flowering time in the wild: September.
