Type: Schlechter 20243 (holo B, lost; iso K)

Differs from the typical variety in the more slender and lower stature, in the smaller flowers, and the not distinctly spathulate lip which in front is longer carnose-thickened. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914).

Colours: Not recorded - apparently the same as the typical variety.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest. Altitude 900 m.

Flowering time in the wild: September.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).

Cultivation: Warm-intermediate growing epiphyte, keep in light shade.
