Differs from var. linearis in the shorter, obliquely ovate petals.

Colours: Leaves light green, rachis light dull red. Flowers brownish red, column with a white tip.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest; 350 m.

Flowering time in the wild: September.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
