Epiphyte, very small. Rhizome very short. Roots filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs ovoid, 0.4-0.7 cm high; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, ligulate, minutely apiculate, glabrous, 3-6 by 0.35-0.7 cm near the middle; base gradually narrowed. Inflorescences 1-flowered, 0.5-0.7 cm high, with a few small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts cucullate, almost as long as the ovary. Flower not resupinated. Sepals lanceolate-ligulate, subobtuse, glabrous, 0.55 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, tightly connate up to the apex. Petals obliquely oblong, obtuse, minutely and sparsely finely ciliate, 0.2 cm long. Lip rhomboid, narrowly lanceolate, subacute, 0.4 cm long; base very shortly 2-auriculate; midrib above thickened in a keel; margins finely setose. Column very short, glabrous; stelidia lanceolate-triangular, subacute; column-foot short. Anther cucullate, glabrous. Ovary sessile, cylindrical, glabrous, 0.15 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)

Colours: Flower violet-red. Lip darker so.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest.

Flowering time in the wild: June.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
