Epiphyte, spreading, to 30 cm long. Rhizome stem-like. Roots filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs tightly adnate to the rhizome, only the apex free, cylindrical, 0.6-0.8 cm long; 1-leaved. Leaf ovate-elliptic, obliquely apiculate, glabrous, 1.5-2 by 0.6-0.9 cm. Inflorescences 1-flowered, very short, with a few small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts less than half as long as the ovary. Sepals at the base ovate-lanceolate, long acuminate, 0.75 cm long, median with minutely finely ciliate margins; the lateral ones falcate-oblique. Petals obliquely ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, 0.2 cm long; at the base along the front margin somewhat dilated. Lip ovate-lanceolate, acute, 0.4 cm long; base subcordate; on upper side grooved in the middle except in the papillose basal third. Column very short; stelidia quadrangular, truncate, very short; column-foot thick, short. Anther helmet shaped-cucullate, glabrous. Ovary with short pedicel, glabrous, 0.5 cm long. Colours: Flower whitish. Sepals striped red. Lip red. Column-foot with a red spot. Anther golden yellow.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 1300 m.

Flowering time in the wild: January.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
