Basionym: Bulbophyllum cassideum
Lip with the top distinctly curved; adaxially with the ridges at least to 4/5 of the total length of the lip (stretch the lip!), generally almost to the tip. (After Vermeulen, 1993)
Colours: As for subsp. orbiculare.
Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest; 300-2300 m.
Flowering time in the wild: January, November.
Distribution: Malesia (Moluccas, New Guinea).

Cultivation: Warm growing epiphyte.
