Epiphyte, bushy, erect, sparsely branched, 20-35 cm high. Rhizome somewhat rigid, stem-like, covered with sheaths. Roots filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs distant, cylindrical, for a long part adnate to the rhizome, 0.25-0.4 cm long; 1-leaved. Leaf erect or erect-patent, elliptic, apiculate, 1.4-2.2 by 0.6-1 cm in the middle. Inflorescences 1-flowered, very short, with 2 inconspicuous small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts apiculate, only slightly longer than the ovary. Flower erect-patent. Sepals oblong, subacute, 0.45 cm long, margins minutely finely ciliate. Lateral sepals oblique, connate up to the apex, boat-shaped. Petals linear-subulate, acute, glabrous, 0.35 cm long; base obliquely ovate; margins subdenticulate. Lip rhomboid-ligulate, obtuse, 0.28 cm long; base very shortly clawed, with 2 minute auricles; above the base with a short callus; in apical half with minutely and densely finely ciliate margins. Column very short; stelidia oblong, cuspidate; column-foot rather thick. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, 0.2 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)

Colours: Flower brown. Petals white with a median red line and red margin.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 1300 m.

Flowering time in the wild: June.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
