Epiphyte, very small, tufted, c. 5 cm high. Rhizome short. Roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs crowded, cylindrical-oblongoid; 0.5-0.7 by 0.2-0.3 cm near the middle; 1-leaved. Leaf erect-patent, lanceolate, acute, glabrous, 1-1.5 by 0.3-0.5 cm below the middle; base weakly narrowed into a petiole. Inflorescence 1-flowered, erect, wiry, glabrous, to 4.5 cm long; with few, minute, distant small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts cucullate, obtuse, very small, much shorter than the pedicellate ovary. Flower erect. Sepals oblong, apiculate, 0.7 cm long, outside with 3 thickened nerves. Median sepal with minutely finely ciliate margins, somewhat broader than the lateral sepals. Lateral sepals oblique, only upper margin minutely finely ciliate. Petals ascending, somewhat concave, in outline obliquely ovate-lanceolate, apiculate, curved, glabrous, barely 0.4 cm long; base cuneate; outside with keeled midrib. Lip elliptic, almost slipper-shaped; 0.5 cm long, near the middle 0.23 cm wide; base shortly clawed; basal auricles very small, recurved, obliquely oblong, obtuse, in between with a broadly triangular, broadly obtuse, low callus; inside with the three middle nerves swollen; apex elongated in a very small ovate, subobtuse lobule. Column very small, semiterete, glabrous; stelidia subulate, not exceeding the basal 6th of the lip. Anther oblong-cucullate, glabrous, with a large umbo; in front truncate. Pedicel and ovary glabrous, slender, 0.3 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914)

Colours: Flower dark wine red.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 1200 m.

Flowering time in the wild: June.
