Type: Dahl s.n. (New Britain, Ralum) (holo HBG).
Rhizome very short. Stems crowded, patent, terete, unbranched, to more than 100 cm by 5 mm, densely many-leaved. Leaf sheaths entirely covering the stem. Leaves erect-patent, narrowly lanceolate-ligulate, 11-14 by 0.9-1.2 cm, base almost rounded, apex acute, shiny. Inflorescences arising laterally from the stem, subsessile, 2-flowered, spathe short, oblong, obtuse. Floral bracts triangular, much shorter than the ovary, apex acuminate. Pedicel and ovary 2.7 cm long, with long slender pedicel, glabrous. Flowers c. 7 cm across. Dorsal sepal lanceolate, 4 cm long, apex elongated-acuminate. Lateral sepals obliquely lanceolate, widened at the base, 4 cm long, apex elongated-acuminate; mentum 0.3-0.4 cm long, obtuse. Petals obliquely narrowly lanceolate, 3.6 cm long, apex elongated-acuminate. Lip 3-lobed below the middle, 1.2 by 0.5 cm, in basal half inside sparsely covered with conical warts, with a low, linear, obtuse basal keel extending to the middle, on the midlobe densely covered with subulate-filiform appendages; lateral lobes falcate-triangular, interior margin subdentate, apex subacute; midlobe lanceolate, 0.7 cm long, margins pectinate-laciniate, apex acuminate. Column 0.4 cm long, clinandrium 3-lobulate, the lateral lobules obliquely rhombic, subcrenulate, the median shorter; column-foot 0.3-0.4 cm long.

Habitat: Epiphyte in beach and coastal forest. Altitude 0 to 60 m.
Flowering time in the wild: Throughout the year.
Distribution: Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea.
Distribution in New Guinea: Papua New Guinea (Gulf, Madang, Morobe, Milne Bay, West New Britain, and New Ireland Provinces).
