Small, 4.5-7 cm high terrestrial. Tuber globose, 0.45-0.5 cm across. Stem 2.5-3.8 cm long, glabrous. Cataphyll cylindrical, 0.7-0.8 cm long, aristate, glabrous. Leaves ovate-cordate, 0.9-1 by 0.7-0.75 cm, aristate, at the base subcordate, 3-nerved at the base, cross-veins 5-6 on either side of the mid-rib, all nerves not visible above, on underside visible only by the different colour. Floral bract linear, boat-shaped, 1-1.1 cm long, subulate in apical part, glabrous. Ovary narrowly cylindrical, curved, 0.7-0.8 by 0.1-0.15 cm, 6-grooved, glabrous. Median sepal boat-shaped, spathulate, 2.2-2.3 by 0.5-0.6 cm, apical part slightly hooded, tip curved upward, acuminate, 3-nerved at the base, 5-nerved in apical part, margin slightly erose in apical part only, glabrous. Lateral sepals linear, 1.2-1.4 cm long. Petals linear, 3.6-3.8 cm long. Lip from a tubular, 0.6-0.8 cm long basal part abruptly curved downward and spreading into an orbicular, 1-1.2 cm wide blade, tip retuse, 3-nerved at the base, 15-nerved near margin, on inside rather densely hispidulous; spurs narrowly conoid, 0.25-0.3 cm long, obtuse. Colours: Leaves green above, green below with maroon nerves. Median sepal white with a few scattered maroon spots in basal part, gradually shading to dark maroon at tip. Lateral sepals and petals white in basal part, maroon towards the apex. Lip dark maroon except for the basal white part.
Habitat: Terrestrial in upper montane forest. Altitude 3050 m.
Flowering time in the wild: June.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
