Almost shrubby epiphyte, pendent, glabrous. Pseudobulbs cylindrical, somewhat laterally compressed, superposed, 8-9 by 1 cm, 1-leaved, rather stout. Leaves rather large, ligulate or narrowly ligulate, 28-32 by 3-3.3 cm, obtuse or subobtuse, coriaceous. Inflorescences many, fascicled, 1-flowered. Peduncle very slender. Floral bract deltoid, acute, very small. Sepals ovate or ovate-elliptic, 0.6 cm long, acuminate, the very tip somewhat obtuse, lateral sepals obliquely dilated along the at the base along the front margin. Petals obliquely oblong, obtusely pointed, a little shorter than the sepals. Lip at the base cuneate, in the middle distinctly 3-lobed, 0.8 by 0.4 cm, lateral lobes erect-patent, semiorbicular, obtuse, mid-lobe ovate, 0.3 cm long, rather obtuse, at the apex itself extended into a short inflexed point, more than twice as long as the lateral lobes, at the base with two semicircular short thickenings. Column semiterete, slightly dilated near the stigma, hardly surpassing the lateral lobes of the lip; foot fairly long, towards the apex somewhat narrowed. Ovary slender, cylindrical, shortly pedicellate, 1.2-1.3 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1922).
Colours: Flowers probably bright red.
Habitat: Epiphyte in montane forest. Altitude 1600 m.
Flowering time in the wild: July.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
