Rhizome creeping, near the pseudobulbs densely, in between sparsely rooting, sheaths tubular, shorter than the internodes. Pseudobulbs 2.5-4 cm apart, erect, at the base thickened, long narrowed above, 9.5-15-5 cm long, 2-leaved, at the base with a few large, up to 7-10 cm long sheaths. Leaves erect-patent, separated by a 1.2-2.3 cm long internode, lanceolate-strap-shaped, the lower one obtuse, the upper one subacute, narrowed at the base and conduplicate, mid-rib grooved above, prominent below, on either side with c. 4 distinct nerves, 17-20 by 2.15-2.4 cm. Inflorescence erect, densely many-flowered; spathe conduplicate, keeled, 2-2.35 cm long, peduncle short, 2-2.5 cm long; rachis grooved, 15-20 cm long. Floral bracts somewhat appressed to the pedicel, lanceolate-subulate, gradually acuminate, slightly concave, 0.43-0.65 cm long. Flowers very small, widely patent, 0.6 cm long. Median sepal widely patent, oblong, subacute, strongly convex, 0.28 by 0.13 cm. Lateral sepals reflexed, obliquely oblong, subobtuse, strongly convex, 0.28 by 0.14 cm. Petals reflexed, linear, obtuse, strongly convex, 0.28 by 0.03 cm. Lip ascending, near the middle recurved at right angles, when flattened in outline rhombic-hexagonal, 0.3-0.33 by 0.18-0.23 cm, near the point of attachment semiorbicular, in the basal part concave with convex margins, near the margins on either side with an obtusely angled inward pointing rib; below on either side with a small rib; above convex and finely ciliate except for the apex; 2-lobulate, the lobules oblique, parallel, irregularly triangular or quadrangular. Column rather slender, 0.17 cm long, curved, at the base not dilated but in front rather thick, at the apex truncate, on either side of the stigma with a rounded lobule. Anther 5-angular, obtuse, slightly more than 0.05 cm wide. Ovary pedicellate, , 0.6-0.7 cm long. (After Smith, 1915)
Colours: Flowers light yellow, the lip more intense yellow.
Habitat: Epiphyte in primary and secondary lowland and montane forest, rarely terrestrial; 50 to 1800 m.
Flowering time in the wild: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.
Distribution: Malesia (Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Lesser Sunda Is., Moluccas, New Guinea, Philippines), SE Asia, Australia, Solomon Islands Vanuatu, New Caledonia.
