Epiphytic, erect, small, 11-22 cm high. Rhizome very short; roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs crowded, short, strongly laterally compressed, ancipitous, 1-leaved, oblong, 0.8-1.5 cm long, near the middle 0.5-1 cm wide. Leaf erect or suberect, elliptic-ligulate, acute or apiculate, gradually somewhat narrowed towards the base, glabrous, 5-16 cm long, near the middle 1.3-2.5 cm wide. Inflorescence erect, slender, usually clearly longer than the leaf, rather laxly 10-30-flowered; peduncle slender, glabrous, often somewhat compressed, with a few distant, bract-like scales, often somewhat shorter than the leaf. Floral bracts erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, often about half as long as the ovary. Flowers not resupinate. Sepals reflexed, oblong-ligulate, obtuse, glabrous, c. 0.45 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique. Petals obliquely linear, obtuse, glabrous, about as long as the sepals. Lip ligulate-cuneate, bilobed, with a short apiculum between the lobes, the lateral and apical margins of the apical half of the lip densely and shortly ciliolate and crenulate-dentate, the lobes obliquely ovate, obtuse, lip including the lobes 0.6 cm long, below the apex 0.3 cm wide, glabrous above, at the base inside near the middle on either side with a small, callus-like, semi-elliptical lamella. Column slightly curved, glabrous, at the base strongly laterally dilated, at the apex indistinctly-auriculate broadened, 2.5 cm long. Anther subreniform-cucullate, obtuse, glabrous. Colours: Sepals and petals yellowish green, lip brownish, in the middle deep red-brown; column white, anther yellowish.
Habitat: Epiphyte in hill and lower montane forest; 500 to 1100 m.
Flowering time in the wild: May, July.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
