Bulbophyllum dawongense J.J.Sm., Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 66 (1934) 203
Type: Mayr 915
Rhizome only branched at the base, branches erect or patent, in the lower part apparently unbranched, 8-9.5 cm long. Roots thin, flexuous, glabrous, branched appressed, covered with conspicuous, acute, apiculate-acuminate, prominently veined, thin marginate, to 1.2-1.45 cm long sheaths. Pseudobulbs appressed to the rhizome, 0.9-1 cm long; base adnate to the rhizome; free part 0.4-0.5 cm long; underneath concave. Leaf oblong, when dried rigidly coriaceous, c. 2.1-3.1 by 0.6-1 cm; base very shortly conduplicate-contracted; apex very shortly conduplicate-channelled-acute, chartaceous-crenulate; midrib dorsally prominent. Inflorescences 1-flowered, short; peduncle 0.13 cm long, with a few small tubular, acuminate, up 0.35 cm long scales. Flower when spread 0.6 cm long, with parallel sepals, somewhat fleshy. Median sepal horizontal, covering the margins of the lateral sepals, oblong-ovate, concave, 3-nerved, 0.55 by 0.23 cm; apex with incurved margins, shortly acuminate; margins thin. Lateral sepals, obliquely oblong-ovate triangular, slightly acute apiculate-acuminate, concave, 3-nervia, 0.6-0.625 by 0.25 cm above the base; with the column-foot forming a short, 0.1 cm long mentum which makes with the ovary a right angle, in lateral view obtuse-angled. Petals porrect, obliquely oblong, obtuse, 1-nerved, 0.23 by almost 0.13-0.1.3 cm over the cilii; margins irregular, front margin towards base somewhat dilated, ciliate. Lip fleshy, slightly curved, 3-lobed, with a small longitudinal channel, in total 0.3 cm long; mid-lobe porrect, oblong-ligulate, obtuse, above especially to the apex convex, fleshy, 0.18 by 0.08 cm; underneath convex; patent pilose except base and apex; lateral lobes in the basal 2/5th of the lip, erect, rounded-obtusely angled triangular, in front gradually decurrent in the mid-lobe. Column short, straight, dorsally convex, 0.18 cm long; clinandrium concave, back wall triangular-elongated, concave, on either side at the base with a low tooth; stelidia porrect, at the base obliquely triangular, subulate, slightly curved, somewhat longer than the anther; stigma deep concave, longitudinally oblong, reaching base of the column; column-foot making a right angle with the ovary, thick, straight, oblong, the apex truncate and on either side dilated in a patent, rounded lobule, with a thickening at the base, 0.1 cm long. Anther cucullate, in outline subovate, the front of the thecae extended in a subquadrangular, rounded-truncate, slightly recurved, prominently celled-finely warty, somewhat narrower, 0.08 by 0.06 cm appendage. Ovary obconical, 6-grooved, sparsely furfuraceous-punctate, almost 0.2 cm long; pedicel 0.15 cm long. (After Smith, 1934)
