Rhizome 5-8 mm diam., sections between pseudobulbs 3-12.5 cm long, bract fibres rather thick, persistent. Pseudobulbs ovoid, 1-4 by 0.8-1.5 cm. Petiole 1-4.5 cm. Leaf blade elliptic to obovate, 10-26 by 2.8-7 cm, index (length/width) 2.4-5.5; obtuse. Flowers moderately to widely opening. Median sepal recurved to spreading, often with incurved top part, ovate to triangular, 20-38 by 5-10 mm, index 2.2-4.8; acute to shortly acuminate, base rather widely attached. Lateral sepals free, recurved but somewhat converging towards the tip, top part somewhat curved inwards, 17-32 by 6.5-12 mm, index 1.9-3.2; base widely attached; otherwise as the median sepal. Petals recurved to reflexed, sometimes with incurved top part, elliptic to (ob-)ovate, 18-30 by 4-9.6 mm, index 2-6; acute to shortly acuminate, base rather narrowly attached. Lip recurved in the proximal half, triangular with a drawn-out, linguiform and slightly widened top part, 9-16.5 by 2.5-5 mm, index 2.6-6 (all without artificial spreading); truncate to obtuse, margins folded into two retrorse, thick, + straight, horn-shaped projections above the base when the lip is observed in lateral view; thick; adaxially concave in between the horns, convex towards the tip; abaxially with a rounded ridge up to about 1/2 of the length of the lip, top part often slightly concave. Column 4-6.5 mm long, c. straight in profile, stigma without teeth at the base; column foot without ridges in the proximal half. Stelidia porrect, triangular, 1-1.8 mm long, rounded to obtuse, without tooth along the lower margin. (After Vermeulen, ms.)

Colours: Sepals and petals greenish yellow to bright yellow to ochre or orange, the sepals sometimes with lime green or olive tips. Lip yellow, with an orange tip, or orange. Flowers turning orange with age. Flowers sweetly scented, offensive to some.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest; 0-460 m.

Flowering time in the wild: March, April, July, September, October, November, December.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea), Solomon Islands.
