Terrestrial, erect, 25-50 cm high. Rhizome decumbent, stem-like. Roots elongated, flexuose, villose. Stem straight or almost straight, densely leafy. Leaves erect-patent or patent, petiolate; blade obliquely lanceolate, acute or subacute, on both sides glabrous, 6-10 cm long, below the middle 1.2-2.7 cm wide; petiole dilated at the base, clasping the stem, 2-3 cm long. Inflorescence erect, peduncle long, above the middle with a few distant, lanceolate, acuminate, closely appressed scales, terete, glabrous, towards the rachis glandulose-puberulous, rachis densely 8-15-flowered, elongated, up to 8 cm long. Bracts erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, mostly about as long as the ovary. Flowers suberect. Sepals ovate-lanceolate, with backwards-pointing, glandulose-puberulous, hairs obtuse, 0.5 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, subfalcate. Petals at the base linear-unguiculate, obliquely rhombic, obtuse, glabrous, as long as the median sepal, cohering along their interior margins. Lip erect, oblong, cucullate-concave, outside at the base notched, in front produced into a rounded, decurved lobe, as long as the sepals, near the middle when not flattened 0.3 cm wide, inside, except for a smooth median band, to above the middle densely covered with subulate papillae. Column slender, in front obtusely keeled, the sides not winged; rostellum erect, anther cordate, ovate, acute or subacute. Colours: Sepals red brown, petals and lip white.
Habitat: Terrestrial in hill and lower montane forest. Altitude 400-1000 m.
Flowering time in the wild: May, July.
Distribution: New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji.
