Type: Kempf s.n. (border between German and English New Guinea, Waria region) (holo B, lost)

Terrestrial, erect, 40 cm high. Rhizome decumbent, stem-like. Roots rather thick, flexuose, finely villose. Stem erect, terete, glabrous, rather laxly 6-7-leaved, 10 cm high, 0.4-0.5 cm diam. Leaves petiolate, erect-patent, obliquely oblong, acuminate, at the base almost rounded, glabrous, 6-7.5 cm long, near middle l.5-2.2 cm wide; petiole at the base dilated, sheathing, 2-2.5 cm long. Inflorescence straight or almost so, terete, glandulose-finely pilose, including the rachis 25-30 cm long, with several lanceolate, acuminate scales; rachis densely many-flowered, to 10 cm long, c. 1.2 cm diam. across the flowers. Floral bracts erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, a little shorter than the ovary. Flowers not resupinate, outside densely and shortly glandulose-puberulous. Sepals oblong, rather obtuse, 0.5 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique. Petals obliquely lanceolate, rather obtuse, narrowed towards the base, interior margins tightly adhering to the median sepal, a little shorter than the sepals. Lip uppermost, in outline ovate-cucullate, obtusely acuminate, 0.3 cm long, below the middle 0.18 cm wide, inside above the base with c. 6 subulate, obtuse, short warts, mid-vein thickened, margins towards the apex incurved, apex obtusely bent inwards. Column short, in front obtusely and rather thickly 2-ribbed; rostellum rather long, bifid. Ovary cylindrical, shortly and densely glandulose-puberulous, 0.9-1 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1921).
