Basionym: Microstylis retusa var. brevis

Differs from var. retusa in the shorter inflorescence, smaller flowers, and in the mid-lobe of the lip being as long as the proximal teeth. (After Smith, 1929)

Colours: Flowers light yellow.

Habitat: Terrestrial on swampy bank; 150 m.

Flowering time in the wild: September.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
