Bulbophyllum aundense Ormerod, Orchadian 14 (2005) 563

Basionym: Bulbophyllum barbatum

Epiphytic, 6-20 cm high, pendent or creeping. Rhizome elongate, branched, glabrous, between the pseudobulbs covered with 315 mm long bracts, these obliquely truncate and obtuse, manynerved, scattered warty, in older parts of rhizome falling apart into separate fibres. Pseudobulbs glabrous, 1-leaved, relatively close together, parallel to rhizome or at a small angle, cylindric-ovoid, 7-20 by 1.5-3 mm, narrowed at base, ribbed. Leaves patent, coriaceous, glabrous but margins irregular papillate-erose, linear, linear-spathulate, or narrowly elliptic, 12-45 by 2-6 mm, acute or obtuse, midrib grooved above, crested below. Inflorescences 1-flowered, solitary. Peduncle glabrous, 3-7 mm long, at base with tubular bracts, 4.5-15 by 2.5-3 mm, acute, crested, in higher parts with 3 bracts, lowest suborbicular, 4 by 3 mm, acute. Bracteoles tubular, 5.5 by 2.5 mm, obliquely truncate, acute, crested. Pedicels glabrous, 3-3.5 mm long. Ovary glabrous, ovoid or sigmoid-claviform, 5.5-6.5 by 2-2.5 mm, 6grooved. Median sepal glabrous, elliptic-obovate, 6.5-9 by 3-5 mm, acute. Lateral sepals glabrous, obliquely ovate, 7-10 by 5-6.5 mm, connate, in basal part forming a rounded mentum, subulate-acuminate at tip, 3nerved. Lateral petals glabrous or finely papillate along apical half of margin, obliquely oblong-elliptic, 6-7 by 2.2-2.5 mm, obtusish or acute, 1-nerved. Lip densely barbate on underside only, linguiform, 6-6.5 by 2-2.5 mm, slightly curved, fleshy, basal margins membranous and curved upwards, obtusely acuminate at tip, crested above, retuse at base. Column short, conoid, 2 by 1 mm, apical margin 3-tipped. Anther papillate along apical part, otherwise glabrous, cucullate with upcurved lateral margins, 1.2 by 1.3 by 0.7 mm, rounded, base retuse. Column-foot compressed-cylindric, 3-4 mm long, straight but curved forward at tip, widened and 2-lobed at tip. Capsule not seen. (After van Royen, 1979)
