Epiphyte, 15-25 cm high. Rhizome short. Roots filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs narrowly conical, 1.3-3.5 by 0.45-0.65 cm below the middle; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, obliquely ligulate, subacute or minutely apiculate, 10-20 by 1.5-2.2 cm in the middle; base gradually narrowed into a petiole. Inflorescence 1-flowered, short, 1.5-2.5 cm long, with a few small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts very small, many times shorter than the very long pedicel. Flower erect. Median sepal oblong-lanceolate, acute, glabrous, 1.1 cm long. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, subobtuse, glabrous, 1.4 cm long. Petals obliquely oblong, subobtuse, 0.4 cm long; the basal margins on either side with an obtuse angle; in upper half the margins with minute papillae. Lip fleshy, curved, as long as the petals, distinctly shorter than the column; base broadly rhomboid; in front somewhat narrowed, obtuse. Column medium-sized, glabrous; stelidia subulate, subobtuse. Ovary with a long pedicel, glabrous, c. 3.5 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)
Colours: Flowers yellow, densely spotted red. Petals pale with violet spots. Lip white spotted violet.
Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 700-1500 m.
Flowering time in the wild: June, September, October.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
