Epiphytic, 6-30 cm high herb. Stems glabrous, slender, 5-19 by 0.1-0.12 cm, ribbed. Sheaths glabrous, ovate, 0.3-4.5 cm long, acuminate, ribbed. Leaves erect, coriaceous, glabrous, dark green, subulate, 4.3-9 by 0.2 cm, acute, grooved above; leaf-sheath glabrous, 0.1-0.3 cm long, ribbed. Inflorescences 1-3. Subtending scales glabrous, ovate, 0.3-0.5 by 0.2-0.3 cm, acute, 1-nerved. Peduncle scales and floral bract glabrous, broader and thinner than the subtending scales, 0.35-0.5 cm long, acute, without nerves. Peduncle glabrous, 0.1 cm long. Pedicel and ovary puberulous with antrorse, appressed hairs, narrowly ellipsoid, 0.45-0.5 cm long, 5-ribbed. Median sepal sparsely puberulous on outside at base otherwise glabrous, ovate-elliptic, 0.4-0.45 by 0.15-0.2 cm, subacute, 3-nerved. Lateral sepals scattered retrorse pilose on outside at base only, slightly obliquely ovate, 0.4-0.45 by 0.18-0.22 cm, rather obtuse, 3-nerved; mentum clavate, 0.36 by 0.2 cm, slightly 2-lobed at tip, scattered retrorse pilose. Petals glabrous, obliquely elliptic-ovate, 0.32-0.35 by 0.12-0.15 cm, acuminate, 1-nerved. Lip spathulate in outline, 0.5-0.55 by 0.2 cm, thickened in apical 0.15 cm, obtuse, margins of lower parts involute, base narrowed, on inside with 2 narrow crests from base to about halfway of entire lip, mid-rib prominent below, crests scattered pilose in basal part, margin of lower 2/3 of lip ciliate. Column short and stout, 0.07-0.1 by 0.05-0.08 cm. Arms obliquely oblong, 0.12-0.15 cm long, rounded. Anther trapezoid, 0.05 by 0.07 by 0.02 cm, retuse, base rounded-truncate, crested, glabrous. Pollinia pyriform, 0.002 cm long. Capsule not seen. (After Van Royen, 1979).

Colours: Flowers reddish with yellow-green lip.

Habitat: Epiphyte in upper montane forest. Altitude 3250 m.

Flowering time in the wild: June.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
