Basionym: Corysanthes umbonata
Terrestrial, very small, 2-4 cm high. Roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, puberulous. Leaf broadly ovate or suborbicular, acuminate, base deeply cordate, glabrous, 1.5-4.2 cm long, below the middle 1-3.5 broad. Flower subsessile, erect, floral bract lanceolate-subulate, a little longer than the ovary. Median sepal above the ligulate base obovate-spathulate, obtuse, glabrous, 1.1 cm long. Lateral sepals linear-subulate, sharply acute, slightly decurved, about 2.5 mm long, glabrous. Petals porrect-ascending, linear-subulate, sharply acute, glabrous, 1.5 cm long, glabrous. Lip longer than the median sepal, above the cucullate base dilated into a very large reniform, retuse blade with coarsely serrate front margins, in the middle in front of the opening of the throat with an obovate-oblong callus, glabrous, spurs very short, conical, narrowly obtuse. Column short, somewhat thickened, glabrous. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, about 0.3 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914, as Corysanthes umbonata Schltr.).
Colours: Leaves dark green with bright rose-red veins. Flower white, inside marked with dark red, with pink swellings.
Habitat: Terrestrial between moss in shady lower montane forest. Altitude 900 m.
Flowering time in the wild: December.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
