Small, 6-14 cm high epiphyte, growing in clumps up to 38 cm across. Stems flexuose, 6-9-leaved. Leaves rather distant, patent, coriaceous, glabrous, 0.8-4.2 cm long, blade falcate-ensiform, 0.6-2.9 cm long, acute or obtuse; sheath 0.2-7.3 cm long, membranous, sometimes subulate-decurrent. Inflorescences 2.5-4.5 cm long, densely flowered, nutant or slightly curved only, entirely glabrous. Peduncle 0.2-0.8 cm long, winged. Rachis winged. Floral bracts ovate or triangular-ovate, 0.75-0.18 cm long, subcaudate or acuminate, margins partly with enlarged prominent cylindrical cells. Flowers patent, entirely glabrous, petals and lateral sepals strongly curved backwards. Median sepal ovate, 0.05-00.8 cm long, obtuse. Lateral sepals orbicular, 0.6-0.9 mm across, obtuse. Petals oblong-ovate, 0.2-0.3 mm long, obtuse. Lip 3-lobed, 0.12-0.14 cm long; lateral lobes slightly curved upwards, triangular or ovate, 0.3-0.5 mm long, obtuse; mid-lobe cordate at base, oblong in apical part, truncate-retuse or truncate, 3-nerved. Column short and stout, 0.2-0.3 mm long. Anther flattish cucullate, 0.2 cm long, with an oblong apical part, retuse at the base. Pollinia 4, minute. Pedicel 0.3-0.5 mm long; ovary ovoid, 0.8-1.2 mm long, 3-winged. Fruit 0.25-0.3 cm long, 3-winged. (After van Royen, 1979)

Colours: Flowers orange, lip with a yellow spot inside.

Habitat: Epiphyte in upper montane forest; 2590 to 2670 m.

Flowering time in the wild: February.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
