Rhizome 4-6 mm diam., sections between pseudobulbs 6-13 cm long, bract fibres rather thin, persistent. Pseudobulbs ovoid, 2.5-3.5 by 0.9-1.4 cm. Petiole 2.5-4 cm. Leaf blade elliptic to obovate, 14-30 by 2.5-5.5 cm, index (length/width) 4-6.1; rounded. Flowers moderately opening. Median sepal spreading with incurved top part, ovate to triangular, 25-32 by 5.5-8.5 mm, index 3.1-4.6; acute to shortly acuminate, base rather broadly attached. Lateral sepals free, with downwards (c. in the direction of the tip of the petals) curved top part, triangular, 22-32 by 10-13 mm, index 2.1-3.2; acute, base widely attached; otherwise as the median sepal. Petals spreading with incurved top part, elliptic to ovate, 23-32 by 4.8-11 mm, index 3-6.3; acute to shortly acuminate, base broadly attached. Lip recurved in the proximal half, subrectangular with a drawn-out elliptic top part that is somewhat constricted at its base, 12-16 by 4-4.8 mm, index 3.2-3.3, top part 1.7-2 mm wide (all without artificial spreading); rounded to obtuse, margins with an obtuse angle above the base when the lip is observed in lateral view; thick; adaxially concave near the base, convex towards the tip; abaxially with a retuse ridge up to about 1/2 of the length of the lip, top part slightly concave. Column 5-6 mm long, c. straight in profile, stigma without teeth at the base; column foot without ridges. Stelidia porrect, triangular, 1.5-1.8 mm long, obtuse to acute, slightly above half-way the length of the column with a porrect to antrorse, triangular, shortly acuminate tooth along the lower margin. Colours: Sepals and petals yellowish, cream coloured or pink, with red to purple spots. Lip yellow, or pink with purple spots.
Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest; 20-3000 m.
Flowering time in the wild: March, May, June, July, August, October, November.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
