Sympodial terrestrial plants. Stem elongated, creeping. Leaves few, sheathing at the base, glabrous, dorso-ventrally flattened, not articulate, convolute, with whitish reticulate veins, herbaceous. Inflorescence a terminal raceme. Flowers small, not resupinate, glabrous, yellowish. Sepals free. Petals free, about as long as the dorsal sepal. Lip without spur, not mobile, outside near the apex laterally with a crenate crest. Column-foot absent. Pollinia 2, sectile, caudicles present, stipe absent, viscidium present. Stigma 1-lobed.
Distribution
New Guinea, endemic. One species [Papuaea reticulata Schltr.].
Habitat
Terrestrial in lowland and hill forest.
Notes
This very rarely collected genus, perhaps related to Pristiglottis or Moerenhoutia, may be recognised by the combination of whitish-veined leaves and not resupinate glabrous flowers.
