Epiphyte, shortly creeping, 7-11 cm high. Rhizome short, creeping. Roots filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs ovoid-conical, narrowed towards the apex, 1-1.7 by 0.5-0.8 cm; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, narrowly linear, acute or apiculate, glabrous, 5-9 by 0.7-1.1 cm; base narrowed. Inflorescence 1-flowered, very short; peduncle-scales few, inconspicuous. Floral bracts ovate-cucullate, distinctly shorter than the ovary. Flower erect, small, hardly half as long as the pseudobulb. Sepals oblong, apiculate, glabrous, 0.65 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, connate to near the apex. Petals obliquely elliptic, subobtuse, glabrous, 0.1 cm long; margins irregular. Lip immobile, oblanceolate-elliptic, subobtuse, 0.5 cm long; base concave-auriculate; above very minutely and densely papillose-dotted; underneath 2-keeled; in the middle sulcate. Column slightly curved; stelidia apically dilated, obliquely truncate, irregularly incised; without column-foot. Anther obcordate-cucullate, high umbonate, glabrous. Colours: Flowers striped red. Lip dark red.
Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 400-900 m.
Flowering time in the wild: March, May, June.
