Epiphytic, erect, very slender, up to 40 cm high. Rhizome decumbent, elongated, slender; roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs 3-4 cm apart, somewhat swollen at the base, upwards stem-like narrowed, slender, somewhat laterally compressed, 5-6 cm long, above the base up to 0.4 cm diam., 1-leaved. Leaves erect, narrowly linear, acute with an apiculum or almost cuspidate, gradually narrowed towards the base, glabrous. 20-25 cm long, near the middle 0.4-0.65 cm wide. Inflorescence erect, straight or nearly so, up to 40 cm long, ancipitous, glabrous, without peduncle-scales; rachis often curved, densely many-flowered, distichous, up to 6 cm long: Floral bracts erect-patent, almost overlapping, two-ranked, compressed, ovate, acute, keeled outside, less than half as long as the pedicellate, ovary. Flowers patent, shiny. Sepals reflexed, oblong, apiculate, glabrous, 0.4 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique. Petals erect, obliquely oblanceolate-spathulate, obtuse, glabrous, almost as long as the sepals. Lip at the base subreniform, geniculate-decurved, glabrous, as long as the petals, above the base almost 0.3 cm wide, in apical half somewhat narrower reniform, notched at the apex, with an apiculum in the notch, at the apex with two indistinct humps, at the base with a large, quadrate, obtuse callus, in front of this with two small swellings. Column quadrate, somewhat narrowed towards the apex, slightly more than half as long as the petals. Anther subquadrate-cucullate, broadly obtuse, glabrous. Ovary and pedicel glabrous, c. 1 cm long. Colours: Flowers brown-red, shiny.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 1100 m.

Flowering time in the wild: September.
