Epiphyte, very small, 8-10 cm high. Rhizome very short. Roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs conical-cylindrical, 1.2-1.4 by 0.35-0.45 cm; 1-leaved. Leaves erect, lanceolate-ligulate, acute or minutely apiculate, glabrous, 4-7.5 by 0.6-1 cm; base weakly narrowed into a petiole. Inflorescence basal, erect, slender, filiform, glabrous, with few distant, very small peduncle-scales, 5-6 cm long. Floral bracts elliptic, clasping, much shorter than the slender, pedicellate ovary. Flower suberect, medium size. Sepals reflexed, oblong, acute, glabrous, 1.3 cm long, outside with 3 thickened nerves. Lateral sepals oblique, somewhat broader than the median one. Petals minute, ovate-subfalcate, acuminate, glabrous, hardly 0.15 cm long. Lip elliptic, convex, subobtuse, c. 1 by 0.4 cm near the middle; base minutely and obtuse concave-auriculate, gradually dilated; above minutely verruculose except for a glabrous shiny part; margin slightly recurved; underneath concave and 2-keeled. Column very small, slender, curved, with widened base; stelidia obliquely truncate, in front with a few teeth; column-foot absent. Anther deeply cordate, with large oblong umbo, glabrous. Ovary and pedicel very slender, glabrous, c. 1.2 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914)

Colours: Flowers dark purple. Lip golden yellow, near the base purple. Petals white with purple spots.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest; 350 m.

Flowering time in the wild: June.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
