Rhizome 4-8 mm diam., sections between pseudobulbs 4.5-13 cm long, bract fibres thick, persistent. Pseudobulbs ovoid, 1.5-3.5 by 0.9-2 cm. Petiole 1.5-5.5 cm. Leaf blade elliptic to obovate, 10.5-35 by 3.2-7.5 cm, index (length/width) 2.1-3.9; rounded. Flowers moderately to widely opening. Median sepal spreading with incurved top part, obovate, 15-25 by 7.5-12 mm, index 1.4-2.5; rounded to shortly acuminate, base rather narrowly attached. Lateral sepals firmly fused along their conspicuously thickened lower margins except for a lumen near the base, porrect, obovate, 15.5-24 by 8-12 mm, index 1.9-2.1; obtuse to acute, base widely attached; otherwise as the median sepal. Petals spreading, obovate, 16-24 by 4.5-9 mm, index 2.3-3.8; rounded to subacute, base narrowly attached. Lip somewhat recurved in the proximal half, triangular with a drawn-out, linguiform top part , 4-5.5 by 1.8-3 mm, index 1.6-2.5 (all without artificial spreading); obtuse, margins with an acute angle above the base when the lip is observed in lateral view; thick; adaxially slightly concave near the base, convex towards the tip; abaxially with a retuse ridge nearly up to the top of the lip, top part convex. Column 5-6 mm long, c. straight in profile, stigma without teeth at the base; column foot with an inconspicuous, rounded callus near the base. Colours: Sepals and petals yellowish or cream coloured with pinkish, brownish or red veins; the lateral sepals with a brownish patch along the lower margins. Lip greenish white or yellowish, with a purple tip. Flowers strongly and sweetly scented.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest and on trees in coastal swamps; 0-140 m.

Flowering time in the wild: March, April, May, October, November.

Distribution: Malesia (Moluccas, New Guinea), ?Solomon Islands.

Cultivation: Warm growing epiphyte.
