Type: Gjellerup 974 (holo BO; iso L, U)

Climber, to 7 m high; stems elongated, branched, terete, leafy, internodes 1.5-2.4 cm long. Leaves widely patent or, in the upper part, patent, ovate-lanceolate, gradually acuminate, with obliquely acute tip, at the base obtuse and very shortly contracted, undulate, many-nerved, above along the mid-rib thinly grooved, thin-coriaceous, 4-6 by 1.3-1.9 cm; sheaths tubular, as long as the internodes. Inflorescences arising from the internodes of leafy stems, perforating the dorsal side of the leaf-sheaths, widely patent, very short, c. 3-flowered; peduncle 0.4-0.6 cm long; peduncle-scales small, very short, tubular; rachis zigzag, 0.5-0.65 cm long. Floral bracts, especially the upper ones, frequently reflexed, ovate-triangular, sometimes angular, obtuse or apiculate, concave or cucullate-concave, 3-nerved or with additional smaller nerves, 0.34-0.38 by 0.3-0.35 cm. Flower fragrant. Median sepal erect, almost linear, shortly obtusely pointed, concave, 5-nerved, 1.5 by 0.36 cm. Lateral sepals oblong, falcate, obtuse, thickly apiculate, obtusely concave, dorsally obtusely convex, 5-nerved, almost 1.2 cm long, above the middle 0.43 cm wide. Petals parallel with the lip, porrect, covering the column, linear, falcate, subacute or subobtuse, concave, 3-nerved, 1.15 cm long, slightly more than 0.2 cm wide. Lip mobile, curved parallel to the column, concave, inside with a longitudinal keel, when flattened elliptic, obtuse or broadly obtuse, about 1 by 0.53 cm, at the apex recurved and convex, entirely but especially in the apical part distinctly papillose; longitudinal keel convex, dilated towards the base, with two shallow grooves, glabrous, extending from the base to near the middle, decurrent. Column slender, curved, near the basal part of the clinandrium constricted, 0.8 cm long; clinandrium concave, subtruncate, ovate, denticulate; stigma small, quadrangular; column-foot making a right angle with the ovary, very short, quadrangular, truncate, 0.1 cm, long. Anther cucullate, connective strongly keeled-thickened and in front elongated, dorsally straight, at the apex laterally flattened-conical, the whole anther, including the connective, 0.18 cm long; pollinia 2, obliquely oblong, above except at the base bifid by a longitudinal groove, below with a longitudinal median groove, almost 0.1 cm long. Ovary pedicellate, 6-grooved, 0.7 cm long. (After Smith, 1915)
