Small, erect, up to 20 cm high, terrestrial herb, growing in dense masses. Leaves patent, coriaceous, densely papillate and scabrous above, smooth below, lanceolate or lanceolate-ovate, 1-2.8 by 0.25-0.4 cm, obtuse, mid-rib grooved above, hardly to distinctly prominent below, margins membranous, irregularly denticulate-erose; sheaths 0.5-1.2 cm long, many-ribbed, transversely warty mainly on apical part on the blade-opposed side, less so and less distinctly in lower parts. Inflorescence c. 10-flowered. Peduncle glabrous, 0.2 by 0.3 cm, compressed, ribbed. Spathes scattered brownish warty on ribs and surface, ovate, 1.1-1.7 by 0.5-0.8 cm, rather obtuse, many-nerved, mid-rib crested. Floral bracts glabrous, broadly ovate to obovate, subreniform, falcate and acute in apical part, many-nerved, mid-rib slightly crested near tip only. Ovary glabrous, ellipsoid, 0.5 cm long, 3-winged. Flowers shorter than the floral bracts. Median sepal glabrous, elliptic-ovate or ovate, 0.55-0.7 by 0.035-0.05 cm, obtuse and apiculate at tip, at base connate to lateral sepals. Lateral sepals 0.65-0.7 cm long, free part slightly warty at tip only, broadly ovate, oblique, 0.5 by 0.35 cm, acute, mid-rib ensiform at tip and elongate past tip of sepals, 3-nerved at base, 5-nerved in higher parts; mentum 0.4 by 0.3 cm, rounded, enveloping the spur of the lip. Petals glabrous, ovate-lanceolate, 0.5 by 0.2 cm, slightly oblique, obtuse, 3-nerved. Lip triangular-cordate, 0.2 by 0.2 cm, obtuse, or short obtusely acuminate, thickened at tip, at base margin folded upwards and enveloping base of column; spur 0.4 by 0.2 cm, broadly cylindrical, rounded, entire lip 3-nerved. Column short, 0.2 by 0.2 by 0.1 cm. Stelidia triangular, 0.05-0.1 cm long, acute. Anther kidney-shaped-cucullate, 0.12 by 0.15 by 0.1 cm, 2-lobed, base and tip retuse, connective umbonate at base. Pollinia pear-shaped, 0.05 cm long. Capsule not seen. (After Van Royen, 1979).

Colours: Flower greenish.

Habitat: Terrestrial in upper montane forest in exposed positions. Altitude 3225 m.
