Epiphyte, slender, 20-30 cm high. Rhizome creeping, flexuose. Roots filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs ovoid or ovoid-conical; 1-leaved, 2-3 cm apart, 1-1.5 by 0.3-0.7 cm above the base. Leaf erect, ligulate, acute, glabrous, including the petiole 7-12 by 1.1-1.7 cm in the middle; base narrowed into a 1.5-2.5 cm long petiole. Inflorescence very slender, erect, rigid, with few small distant peduncle-scales, to 30 cm long. Inflorescence rather densely many-flowered, distichous, gradually elongated, glabrous, to 7 cm long. Floral bracts laterally compressed, triangular, acuminate, slightly more than half as long as the pedicellate ovary. Flowers glabrous. Sepals patent, narrowly lanceolate, elongate-acuminate, 2.1 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique. Petals oblique, 3-lobed, 3.5 cm long; base suborbicular, at its top with 3 teeth; at the apex with a long bristle. Lip narrowly lanceolate, elongate-acuminate, 1.5 cm long; base cuneate, in the middle with 2 short lateral crests which converge to halfway the lip; margins crenulate-incised. Column slender; stelidia short, subulate-triangular, apiculate, with subdentate upper margin; column-foot short. Anther obreniform-cucullate, umbonate, glabrous. Ovary pedicellate, glabrous, c. 1 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)

Colours: Sepals white, striped red at the base. Petals marked with red. Lip tinged reddish, yellow at the base.

Habitat: Epiphyte in forest; 1000 m.

Flowering time in the wild: May.
