Epiphyte, small, 11-17 cm high. Rhizome short. Roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, glabrous. Pseudobulbs conical-cylindrical, 2-3 by 0.4-0.55 cm below the middle; 1-leaved. Leaves erect, elliptic-ligulate, obtuse, minutely apiculate, glabrous, coriaceous, 8-12 by 1.5-2 cm near the middle; base gradually weakly narrowed into a petiole. Inflorescences 1-flowered, basal, erect, slender, filiform, 5-6.5 cm long; with few very small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts elliptic, apiculate, clasping, much shorter than the slender pedicellate ovary. Flower erect or suberect. Sepals reflexed, lanceolate-ligulate, subacute, glabrous, 3 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, hardly wider than the median one. Petals minute, falcate-oblong, broadly obtuse, 0.15 cm long; front margin at the base with an obtuse, enlarged lobule; back margins at base obtuse, angular. Lip ligulate, obtuse, convex, glabrous, 2.5 by 0.65 cm in the middle when flattened; base minutely and shortly concave, auriculate; underneath hollow. Column rather thick, slightly incurved, with widened base; stelidia short, shortly 3-lobulate; column-foot absent. Anther reniform-cucullate, apiculate, umbonate, glabrous. Pedicel and ovary slender, glabrous, c. 3.5 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914)

Colours: Flower white, outside tinged red. Lip white with one whitish yellow and two brown-red median stripes.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 600 m.

Flowering time in the wild: May.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
