Epiphyte, stout, to 45 cm high. Rhizome very short. Roots filiform, flexuose, lepidote. Pseudobulbs ovoid, 4-5 by 2-2.5 cm below the middle; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, elliptic-ligulate, subacute, glabrous, 25-33 by 5-6.5 cm near the middle; base gradually narrowed into the short petiole. Inflorescence laxly 3-7-flowered, erect, to 45 cm high; with a few distant peduncle-scales. Floral bracts elliptic, less than half as long as the pedicellate ovary. Flowers suberect, large, glabrous. Median sepal ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 4 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, lanceolate, elongated, c. 6 cm long; outside with a high keel. Petals obliquely oblong, acute, 1.5 cm long. Lip fleshy, curved, lanceolate-tongue-shaped, c. 1.6 cm long; in basal half 2-ribbed; above the middle and to the apex sparsely verruculose; top rather obtuse. Column short, rather thick; stelidia subulate, in front at the base with an obtuse lobule, at the back with an obtuse tooth; column-foot incurved. Anther glabrous, helmet-shaped. Colours: Flower yellow with red spots.
Habitat: Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 200-1800 m.
Flowering time in the wild: January, April, August, September, December.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
