Basionym: Giulianettia fusca

Almost shrub-like, stout, erect, 30-45 cm long, branched. Stems and branches thinly terete, densely leafy, entirely covered with the very densely warty-rugose (warts at apex fimbriate), tightly clasping leaf-sheaths with fimbriate-lacerate apices. Leaves elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 1.5-2.7 by 0.8-1.1 cm, patent, obtusely and unequally bilobulate, base rounded, margins recurved, subserrate-rough. Spathe tightly clasping, densely furfuraceous-rough, half as long as the ovary. Flowers single, carnose. Sepals oblong-ligulate, 2.3 cm long, obtuse, lateral sepals oblique, at the base along the front margin dilated. Petals narrowly and obliquely ligulate, obtuse, hardly narrowed towards the base, almost as long as the sepals. Lip very broadly subreniform-rhombic, 0.5 by 0.6 cm, indistinctly 3-lobulate, obtuse, at the base with a crescent-shaped, transverse, inconspicuous callus; spur narrowly cylindrical, 2.2 cm long, rather obtuse, somewhat shorter than and appressed to the ovary. Column short, stigma large, clinandrium widened, obtuse, densely denticulate. Ovary sessile, cylindrical, 2.5 cm long, glabrous. (After Schlechter, 1922, as Giulianettia fusca Schltr.).
