Erect, much branched, bushy, up to 75 cm high, terrestrial herb. Stems stout, apical parts often pendulous, terete. Leaves patent, coriaceous, glabrous, lanceolate, ovate, 0.7-2.8 by 0.4-0.7 cm, unequally 2-lobed at tip, longer tip rounded, shorter subacute and folded over the mid-rib, mid-rib grooved above, prominent below, lateral nerves 2 on either side of mid-rib, branched, visible on underside only, margin thin, scabrous-erose; sheaths 0.3-0.8 cm long, but in older parts of stems up to 2.2 cm long, stoutly ribbed, densely, sometimes transversely-elongate, warty mainly on the ribs. Inflorescence 5-8-flowered. Peduncles glabrous, 0.15 by 0.2 cm, ribbed. Spathes glabrous, widely ovate-orbicular, 0.8-0.7 cm, acutely apiculate, 5-nerved at base, more-nerved in apical part. Floral bracts glabrous, elliptic or obovate-elliptic, 0.8 by 0.4 cm, subacute, 3-nerved. Ovary glabrous, narrowly obovoid-oblong, trigonous, 0.35-0.4 cm long. Flowers glabrous. Median sepal ovate-elliptic, 0.5 by 0.3 cm, very shortly obtusely acuminate but retuse at tip, 3-nerved at base. Lateral sepals broadly obliquely ovate-quadrangular, 0.6-0.7 by 0.25-0.3 cm, acute, connate along frontal margin in basal 1/4 only; mentum obliquely oblong, rounded, 3-lobed seen frontally, entire sepal 3-nerved in basal part, 5-7-nerved in apical part. Petals obliquely elliptic-ovate, 0.45 by 0.25 cm, rounded and retuse at tip, 3-nerved at base, 4- or 5-nerved in apical part. Lip cordate-triangular, 0.25 by 0.25 cm, rounded at tip, spur cylindrical, truncate at base and curved forward, entire lip 5-nerved. Column strongly curved, 0.25 by 0.15 by 0.1 cm. Stelidia triangular, 0.05 cm long, obtuse. Anther kidney-shaped, 0.13 by 0.1 by 0.12 cm, dorsally umbonate, retuse at either end. Pollinia pear-shaped, 0.06 cm long. Capsule not seen. Colours: Flowers greenish white, lip with a thin black margin.
Habitat: Epiphyte. Altitude 3380 m.
Flowering time in the wild: July.
Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
Distribution in New Guinea: Papua (Indonesia).
Cultivation: Cool growing epiphyte.
