Epiphyte, very small. Rhizome very short. Roots filiform, glabrous. Pseudobulbs very close together, conical-cylindrical, 1-1.5 by 0.4-0.6 cm below the middle; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, ligulate, acute or apiculate, 4-7.5 by 0.8-1.4 cm near the middle; base cuneate. Inflorescences 1-flowered, very short, covered with a few small peduncle-scales. Floral bracts very small, than the subsessile ovary. Flower erect-patent. Sepals ovate, acuminate; inside minutely papillose-puberulous. Median sepal in the basal third part connate to the lateral ones, 0.8 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, to the middle connate, 0.85 cm long. Petals obliquely oblong-quadrangular, broadly obtuse, 0.3 cm long; apex truncate. Lip immobile, fleshy, ovate, glabrous, 0.8 cm long; base somewhat concave; margins crenate-verruculose; apex elongated into a long, curved, slender extension which is at the apex slightly clavate-swollen. Column slender, slightly curved, glabrous; stelidia lacerate-dentate; column-foot almost absent. Ovary subsessile, glabrous, 0.45 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)
Colours: Flower dark red with blackish-red petals and lip; tip of the lip yellow.
Habitat: Epiphyte in forest; 900-2100 m.
Flowering time in the wild: February, March, April, May, June, July, September.
Distribution: Malesia (Sulawesi, New Guinea).
