Stems elongated, strongly branched, compressed, up to 80 cm long, internodes up to 3-3.5 cm long, those of the branches shorter. Leaves linear-lanceolate, narrowed towards the apex, strongly unequally obtusely bilobulate, above longitudinally grooved, coriaceous, on the primary stems 6.5-13.5 cm long, 0.85-1.75 cm wide, on the branches smaller; sheaths tubular, as long as the internodes, above transversely rugose-verrucose, at the apex with a large triangular, appressed, up to 0.5 cm long tooth opposite the leaf-blade. Inflorescence terminal, sessile, nodding, densely capitate, 20-flowered, when dried 2.5 cm diam., enveloped by a large, obtuse, 1.5 cm long spathe. Flowers medium-sized. Median sepal oblong, acute, apiculate, concave, 5-nerved, 0.88 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Lateral sepals in front deeply saccate-connate, clasping the spur, in total 0.75 cm long, free part strongly falcate-incurved, broadly triangular, obtuse, conical-apiculate, concave, 5-nerved , 0.25 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Petals oblong, suboblique, obtuse, concave, 3-nerved, 0.9 cm long, 0.3 cm wide. Lip at the base adnate to the column, entire, spurred, in total 0.45 cm long; spur parallel to the ovary, ventricose-saccate, apex rounded-truncate, 0.23 cm long, 0.26 cm wide; blade recurved, quadrate, at the base on either side rounded, apex somewhat rounded, inside with a small, longitudinal indistinct rib, carnose-thickened, much thicker than the wall of the spur, 0.27 cm long, 0.24 cm wide. Column short, 0.2 cm long, subcurved, apex strongly dilated, with 3 small ribs, the ribs decurrent on the filament and auricles, clinandrium dentate, auricles rather large, triangular, acute. Anther cucullate, obliquely conical, at the base and apex emarginate. Pollinia 4, pyriform, geminate, inside flat. Rostellum large, very broad, broadly retuse. Stigma transverse, lower margin strongly produced, rounded-triangular, surpassing the rostellum. Ovary 6-grooved, 0.75 cm long. (After Smith, 1909)
