Type: Gjellerup 875 (holo BO; iso L)

Rhizome creeping, branched, terete, initially covered with sheaths, internodes 0.3-0.4 cm long, those just below the pseudobulbs shorter and swollen. Pseudobulbs 1.8-2.8 cm apart, obliquely erect, obliquely ovate, laterally compressed, in cross-section elliptic, 1.1-1.2 by 0.9-1 cm, 1-leaved. Leaf linear, 30-36 by 0.75-1.35 cm, acute, at the base conduplicate, mid-rib grooved above, keeled below; sheath conduplicate, in the basal part tubular and ensiform, 0.3-0.45 cm long. Inflorescence many-flowered, peduncle ancipitous, 25-30 cm long, 0.17 cm wide; rachis compressed, to 9 cm long, across the bracts 0.9-1 cm wide, internodes slightly more than 0.1 cm long. Floral bracts distichous, dense, almost overlapping, patent, tightly conduplicate, acute, strongly keeled, 0.6-0.7 cm long. Flowers opening usually singly in succession, very small. Sepals reflexed. Median sepal subelliptic-oblong, subacute, convex, 3-nerved, 0.55 by 0.24 cm. Lateral sepals subobliquely ovate-elliptic, obtuse apiculate, dorsally keeled, 3-nerved, 0.54 by 0.28 cm. Petals erect, subparallel, oblique, almost spathulate, gradually dilated towards the apex, obtuse, convex, 1-nerved, 0.5 cm long, in the basal part 0.08 cm wide, in the apical part 0.14 cm wide. Lip when not flattened 0.35 by 0.27 cm, when flattened 0.4 cm long, at the base 0.33 cm wide, near the apex 0.24 cm wide, at c. 1/4 above the base abruptly decurved, with an inflated-convex fold on either side in the bend, at the base with a large, broad, dorsally compressed, in front very slightly 3-ribbed callus that extends to the folds, in front of this with two minute calli and one minute tooth-like callus; frontal part broadly subquadrangular-oblong, at the apex rounded, with a short truncate apiculum, apical margins papillose. Column short, 0.2 by 0.18 cm, on either side very broadly winged, at the apex contracted, excluding the apex rounded-quadrangular, at the base truncate with a rectangular lobule on either side, much broader than the ovary, dorsally convex, in front on either side of the stigma with a wing-like, longitudinal, triangular lamella; clinandrium concave, apical wings rounded, concave; rostellum triangular; stigma quadrangular, lower margin almost tooth-like. Anther rounded-quadrangular, at the apex somewhat contracted, almost truncate, at the base retuse, 0.08 cm wide. Ovary pedicellate, , 1.2-1.35 cm long, 6-ribbed, the ribs especially prominent dorsally. (After Smith, 1915)
