Pseudobulbs close together, ovoid-conical, longitudinally grooved, c. 1.35 by 0.7 cm. Leaf lanceolate, acute, apiculate; base gradually narrowed and conduplicate; upper side on either side of the midrib grooved; underneath obtusely prominent, convex, c. 7-11 by 1.15-1.65 cm. Inflorescences fascicled, erect, 1-flowered; peduncle filiform, c. 5.5 cm long. Floral bract tubular, subulate-acuminate, keeled, 0.5 cm long. Median sepal elongated, linear-caudate, narrowing acuminate, concave, c. 3.1-4.75 by 0.24-0.28 cm; nerves 3 dorsally prominent. Lateral sepals similar to the median one, oblique, slightly falcate, c. 3.1-4.75 by 0.4-0.47 cm. Petals very small, appressed to the column, irregularly falcate-rhombic, 0.18-0.2 by 0.13-0.14 cm; margins on either side somewhat below the middle more or less dilated in a irregular, triangular-acuminate, acute, erose-denticulate, 1-nerved lobule. Lip immobile, porrect, elongated, narrow, clawed, in total 3.2-4.4 by 0.28 cm when not flattened; claw towards the base somewhat dilated, at the back rounded, concave, with erect margins, inside verruculose, underneath convex with a longitudinal groove, 0.26-0.3 cm long; blade subconduplicate-convex, inversely cymbiform, when flattened lanceolate, very long filiform-acuminate, the basal part underneath with 2 parallel keels, the margins decurrent in the grooves of the claw, extended to 0.85-1.2 cm above the base of the lip, c. 9-nerved, when flattened 0.6 cm wide. Column curved, with two cushions on either side of the base, 0.28-0.3 cm long; clinandrium finely laciniate at the apex, recurved, the rest dentate; stelidia divergent, short, filiform-subulate; stigma longitudinal, narrow, linear-oblong, the base not callose-thickened; column-foot short. Anther cucullate, laterally compressed, in outline ovate, triangular-rostrate, obtuse, 0.08 cm long; connective strongly thickened, crested, the apex does not reach the crest. Ovary 6-angular, the sides concave, 0.9 cm long; pedicel c. 1.75 cm long, 0.4 cm above the base articulate. Fruit c. 6.25 cm long; dehiscent in 6 valves which remain connate at base and apex, pedicel above the articulation c. 1.9 cm long. (After Smith, 1916)

Colours: Flower white. Sepals with longitudinal violet-red stipes. Lip in basal half white, in top half sulphur-yellow.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest; 175-1800 m.

Flowering time in the wild: August, September, October, November.

Distribution: Malesia (New Guinea).
