Rhizome creeping. Pseudobulbs at an acute angle to the rhizome, ovoid-conical, 0.9-1 cm apart, 1.6-2 cm long; 1-leaved. Leaf petiolate, lanceolate, sharply acuminate; midrib above grooved, below keeled, 9-12 by 1.8-2.1 cm; petiole 1-2 cm long. Inflorescences erect, 1-flowered; peduncle filiform, 3-6 cm long, with several tubular peduncle-scales. Floral bracts obliquely cup-shaped, acuminate, 0.3-0.35 cm long. Flower c. 2 cm wide. Median sepal lanceolate-triangular, acute, 1.1 by 0.23 cm; outside with 3 somewhat prominent nerves. Lateral sepals lanceolate-triangular, somewhat falcate, acute, 1.1 by 0.35 cm at the base; at the base the front margin crisped; nerves 3, prominent outside. Petals lanceolate, in the middle somewhat constricted, acute, 1-nerved, 0.27 by 0.08 cm. Lip above the base strongly recurved, tongue-shaped, subobtuse, in total 0.58 by 0.16 cm; at the base laterally compressed with erect margins, concave, with two short keels, on either side with a small, rounded, backwards-pointing basal lobe, below the basal lobes on either side with a small tooth; lip underneath in the basal part with two keels, decurved part convex underneath. Column in total 0.2 cm long; stigma longitudinal elliptic; stelidia long, filiform, much longer than the anther; column-foot 0.23 cm long, at right angles to the ovary, basal part below the stigma gibbose; apex free, incurved, strongly semiorbicular-widened. Anther hood-shaped; connective swollen, papillose; apex obtusely projecting. Pollinia 4, oblong. Ovary 6-grooved, minutely pitted, 0.25 cm long; pedicel 0.65 cm long. (After Smith, 1909)

Colours: Lateral sepals orange. Petals translucent white with some blackish-purple dots. Lip finely spotted violet-red with violet-red lateral lobes, mid-lobe at the base orange.

Habitat: Epiphyte in lowland forest.

Flowering time in the wild: June.
