Terrestrial, erect, 15-25 cm high; rhizome decumbent, stem-like. Roots elongated, flexuose, finely villose. Stems leafy, terete, glabrous, 8- to 10-leaved. Leaves erect-patent or patent, petiolate; blade obliquely ovate- or elliptic-lanceolate, acute, glabrous on both sides, 3-6 by 1.2-1.5 cm; petiole at the base conspicuously dilated, sheathing the stem. Inflorescence longer than the leaves, densely 8-20-flowered, cylindrical, up to 4 cm long, c. 1.3 cm diam. across the flowers. Floral bracts ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, the lower ones usually surpassing the ovaries, the upper ones gradually smaller. Flowers glabrous. Median sepal ovate-lanceolate, narrowed towards the apex, at the apex verruculose-thickened, 0.35 cm long. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, obtuse, towards the apex verruculose-thickened, as long as the median sepal, at the base along the front margin decurrent. Petals obliquely oblong, obtuse, at the apex slightly finely warty, a little shorter than the median sepal. Lip suborbicular-rhombic, 0.3 cm long, with incurved margins, inside with two parallel keels decurrent to above the middle, inside in the centre rather thick; spur somewhat laterally flattened, almost conical, dilated in the middle, subacute, almost 0.6 cm long. Column rather thick, the arms about as long as the rostellum, truncate. Anther ovate-lanceolate, acute, at the base cordate, cucullate, dorsally with a lanceolate umbo. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, c. 0.6 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914)
