Stems branched, thin, terete, to more than 40 by 0.15 cm, many-leaved, internodes 0.5-2.5 cm long. Leaf sheaths longer than the internodes, tubular, verrucose, at the apex long lacerate-fimbriate. Leaves patent, distichous, almost linear, 2-3.5 by 0.25-0.43 cm, carnose-coriaceous, base narrowed, apex obtuse or unequally bilobulate. Inflorescences terminal, subsessile, very short, 1-flowered. Spathe and floral bract obliquely cucullate, rather large, when dried squamulose-punctate, 0.7-0.9 cm long, clasping the spur and the ovary. Ovary 0.8-1 cm long, 6-grooved. Flower 2.5 cm across, widely opening. Median sepal lanceolate, 1.4-1.65 by 0.4-0.48 cm, apex apiculate. Lateral sepals free, obliquely lanceolate, somewhat falcate, 1.3-1.4 by 0.4-0.47 cm, at the base in front rounded-dilated, clasping the base of the spur, 5-veined at the base, apex obtuse, apiculate, with subulate, verruculose-denticulate apiculum. Petals elliptic, at the base obliquely narrowed, 1.4-1.65 by 0.7-0.75 cm, 5-veined at the base, apex obtuse. Lip in the basal part adnate to the column; blade concave, when flattened subrhombic-orbicular, very shortly rounded-subacuminate, 0.55 by 0.5 cm, free part of the blade subovate-semiorbicular, c. 0.4 cm long, thickened, especially at the base; spur parallel with and slightly shorter than the ovary, rather slender, straight, linear, dorsally compressed, 0.65-0.9 cm long, obtuse. Column short, much thickened at the apex, 0.25 cm long, clinandrium large, dentate; wings short, broad, obtuse; rostellum large, broad, rounded, apex rounded-notched to bilobulate; stigma transverse, crescent-shaped, lower margin much prolonged, rounded, sightly shorter than the rostellum. Anther cucullate, transversely elliptic, apex truncate, base emarginate. Pollinia unequally oblong-pyriform. (After Smith, 1908).
